-I see an old picture of New York City. I see a river. There are many buildings and skyscapers. It is a very urban setting. There are no green places shown. I see some barges on the river. | - This image looks like it was taken in the late 1800s-early 1900s. There are no tall skyscrapers. Today, there would be more boats and buildings. Some of those buildings are still standing at this present day. | - Where along the river was this taken? Why are there no bridges in the picture? When did New York City get taller buildings? |

-I see a man standing by a hut. He is not wearing many clothes. He is African. He is saluting. The hut is made out of sticks. The man is holding a staff and wearing necklaces. | -I think this image was to show what an African tribal-man looked like. The man doesn't mind his picture being taken and seems to pose. He looks important, and may be a leader of some sort. This picture was taken 100+ years ago. | -Who is this man? Why is he saluting? Did he build that hut? What is the significance of the garments around his neck and chest? |
